INTERLUDE

Nathan's morning unfolds with a mix of business and personal matters. A Skype call with his security agency reveals the successful implementation of the Guardian project, a feat made possible by Frank's bribe of four hundred world-class hackers.

On a call, Frank and Gerry decide they have to get in touch with Nathan and Bethany Anne to find out what might be available for future planning regarding the Weres’ associations with the ordinary world. They need a vamp to control it. Michael handled it in the past.

Later, Nathan introduces Ecaterina to authentic New York pizza at Joe's in the West Village. Then they go to Gerry's office. The alpha is concerned that a human is attending their meeting.

Gerry: Ecaterina. Are you aware of Nathan's, uh, peculiarities?

Ecaterina: You mean that he turns into, what you call, “friendly pooch?”

Gerry handles the political aspects of their world, while Nathan manages the hands-on issues in the pack. As they discuss the troublemakers within their community, it becomes clear that Michael’s continued absence is a big problem. The younger members of the supernatural community are restless, and Nathan fears a repeat of a tragic event known as "Valentine's Day."

Nathan tells Gerry about his interactions with the new vampire in town. "I saw red-eyed death walking. She caught a wolf mid-air, Gerry. Didn't even stagger at the weight. Then she just...pulled his head almost completely off and drank his blood."

Gerry is skeptical, but Nathan persists. "Don't. Underestimate. Her."

Ecaterina suggests calling Bethany Anne to discuss the situation.
